There has been a lot of talk over the last few years about Americas thirst for oil and the prices rising. Well heres the truth were way to dependant on oil from the terrorist middle east. The Idea the we need to drill here and rill now for more oil is a good idea. But alone it will not work long term. The fact that Congress has blocked or failed to act on any plan at all is being felt here as well as in the rest of the country. This angers me as well as most of the rest of you. Now im not here to just bitch without haveing an Idea on how to fix this. I have good ideas to help both in the short and long term.
1. In the short term the goverment needs to do the following. A tax credit to the owners of diesal trucks ie the shipping companys also to the independant truckers equal to $2 a gallen on their fuel back dating this to 06. That would give them the ability to lower their costs also keeping them from going under or rasing prices.
2 In the long term I would open drilling offshore and oilshale drilling . Then I would Mandate all cars and trucks be Hybrid, Natural gas ,electric, or Hydo fuel cell by 2020. Alternitive renewable power be masively exspanded wind solar and hydro thermal. To replace the coal and natural gas plants . Also atomic energy should be moved on as soon as feasable.
